Joren-ji Temple, Itabashi-ku

Founded around 1400. The Buddha statue called “Tokyo Daibutsu (東京大仏)” was erected in 1977 in the hope that the area would not suffer damage from war and earthquakes.

Winter cherry blossoms (Fuyuzakura, 冬桜), that bloom in fall and into winter.

Omamori, Japanese amulets commonly sold at Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples, dedicated to particular Shinto kami as well as Buddhist figures, and are said to provide various forms of luck or protection. The word mamori (守り) means protection, with omamori being the sonkeigo (尊敬語, honorific) form of the word, “to protect”.

It was founded around 1928 as a community developed around the Japan Beer Brewery Company (now Sapporo Breweries Limited) facilities which began brewing Yebisu Beer in 1890. After the breweries were moved to Chiba in 1988, the area underwent a major urban development resulting in the construction of Yebisu Garden Place, which opened to the public in 1994.

Lit. Metropolitan Expressway. A network of toll expressways in the Greater Tokyo Area. It was first built in 1962 for the purpose of increasing traffic flow efficiency in the Tokyo Metropolitan Area. There are 24 routes currently in operation.
